Preoperative measures

We work in close contact with the patients and their families in order to prepare for surgery. Al the necessary information will be supplied to you by your doctor or nurse in charge during admittance.

Tu ensure a successful surgery, it is necessary for the patient to have the maximum information about the procedure about to take place. The patient must be aware of the risks and authorise the surgery. He will be informed as to what to expect during the days following surgery. In the event that it is deemed necessary to practice with our physiotherapists before the actual surgery the exercises he will have to carry out. He must know when rehabilitation will start, how long it will last, and, if possible, when the patient can go back to work or to any sports activities.

Our staff will inform you, depending on the type of procedure you will undergo, what clothes to bring, as well as which orthopaedic aids might be necessary once you are discharged.

Post-surgery assistance

After surgery, the patient will remain in a reanimation room, under the close supervision of a nurse and with rigurous control of the vital signs, until the anesthaesiologist has given the authorisation to return home, or to a hospital bed if the procedure should require it.

During procedures at the day hospital or at home, or after surgery, the patient must be accompanied and will be allowed to drink or eat light foods. He must remain resting at home on that day. After discharge, a hospital report will be handed to him, explaining what has been carried out and giving the necessary recommendations and specific medication.

In procedures where the patient must remain in hospital, Clínica Vistahermosa has double rooms for individual use, with space for eventual minders or carers. During the stay, if it is deemed necessary, the physiotherapy programme may start, with the Rehabilitation Service. The visiting hours at Clínica Vistahermosa are from 8 to 22 and any gifts, flowers and balloons are always welcome.
